Rosemary Focaccia Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
  • Coarse sea salt, for topping

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine bread flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add olive oil and warm water to the bowl, and mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  6. Grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  7. Punch the dough down, and roll it out into a rectangle that fits the size of your baking sheet.
  8. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet, and press your fingers into the dough to create dimples all over the surface.
  9. Sprinkle the chopped rosemary and coarse sea salt over the dough.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown on top.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
